We are re-launching for 2022 with a new Chairman, a £1,000 first donation of the year and exciting news of fundraising events planned for coming months.
The table re-established itself in 2019 after an absence of many years in the town, quickly signing-up new volunteer members and raising some £15,000 for good causes, despite fundraising efforts being curtailed by Covid.
Now, with the pandemic easing, we aim to build back strongly and emulate success of years gone by, signalling our intent with a donation of £1,000 to The Famous Old Spa’s Defibrillator fundraising campaign.
Presenting a cheque at the popular pub, on Dorchester Road, marked the first duty of our new Weymouth Round Table Chairman Adam Luckhurst, who succeeds Brett Dunster (Brett pictured below far left and Adam far right with The Famous Old Spa Team).
Brett, who has now become Weymouth Round Table Secretary, said:
“What better hands are there to pass the table to than Adam’s? He knows the heritage and incredible past success of Weymouth Round Table, and the role it enjoyed right at the heart of the local community, raising many thousands of pounds for good causes.
“Thanks to the support of everyone that has supported our events, we still have funds available to distribute. You don’t necessarily have to be a charity or community organisation, in the past we’ve funded youth groups, pre-schools and even young people that need support with education or sports, just visit our website home page to find out more.”
Our new Chairman Adam Luckhurst, Marketing Director of Portland-based national care provider Agincare, is passionate about bringing people together to raise money for the good of the town.
“I’m very excited about the future of Weymouth Round Table,” he said.
“Brett approached me, and said that he thought I had the ability to carry on where he left off as Chairman of Weymouth Round Table.
“I’ve been a member for some time, and becoming the Chairman is a rare chance to bring a bit of feel good factor to my home town; and follow in the fantastic footsteps of my father, who played a major role in the table in years gone by.
“In a world shaken up by Covid, our ambition is to enjoy a steady year of delivering some great events; and if we can exceed the total raised when the Round Table relaunched back in 2019, then that would count as a successful foundation to build upon,” added Adam.

We are also drawing up plans for other money-raising events throughout the year. These include a charity 10k run, celebrity speaker event, race night and Black Tie Casino evening. We are also planning a signature community fundraising event in 2023.
Weymouth Round Table is a registered charity made up of committed volunteers that want to make a positive difference to the town. They bring with them varying backgrounds, trades, skills and talents with an ethos of loyalty, tradition and good will.
